Is it possible to have this HWID 2296 patch kit and a working link to download from 'cause there is no result or hit so far after using this keyword for searching!

You are lucky you didn't brick your device, The correct firmware is determined by the HardWareID not by the device name as in your case there is regional firmware.

Hi just recently purchased a gpsmap 66i. Unfortunately updated the device firmware to 9.00. Is there any way to downgrade to an earlier version? Otherwise guess I'll have to wait until a new patch is released.

Yes, you can revert to an earlier version but you lose all your personal settings. I did this on my 66sr.

I had put the penultimate firmware in the Garmin folder of the 66sr and I turned it on, it asked if I wanted to install this old version, I said yes.

Not sure where to look for the old firmware in the Garmin folder of my device. I updated from 8.80 to 9.00 using Garmin Express. Is there a specific folder or file to look for?

Wow seems like a lot of work downgrading ,might have been prudent to just wait for the latest Patched version.
Check your PC for the Firmware you wanted Patching and upload, then another member could Patch it for you if you don't know how.

Hi Garmin Nuvi,
I followed the link and extracted the contents for the Drive 6 to the SD card and rebooted. The SD Card now shows a copy of the .154 bin file.
Could you please point me in the right direction as to how to add the latest maps to the sd card?

That suggests you have Patched your device successfully to enable it to use Unlocked maps
